Flex Systems

Local entrepreneurs Daniel and Connah O'Toole lead the seed round, taking a majority stake as UpriseVSI rebrands to Flex Systems.

£500KSeed

Cardiff-based software provider specialising in online booking, scheduling systems, and workforce management technology. It develops platforms including thinkBooker and flex.

Flex Systems, formerly known as UpriseVSI, has secured an initial £500k investment from local entrepreneurs Daniel and Connah O'Toole, who have become majority shareholders in the company. The funding will be directed towards enhancing the thinkBooker platform and commercialising the flex workforce scheduling system for a broader commercial audience.

Established in 2012, the Cardiff company has a history of developing web technology, notably acquiring VSI-thinking in 2015. The latest transaction follows a close collaboration with Retail Merchandising Services, where the flex platform was initially deployed to manage multi-skilled teams. Alongside the rebrand, co-founders Gareth Rees Jones and Geoff Thomas will retain minority stakes and serve in executive roles alongside incoming CEO Daniel O'Toole.

Development Bank of Wales continues its involvement as a supportive long-term lender following the transaction. The business aims to capitalise on growing demand for flexible workplace solutions and digital scheduling tools across multiple industries.
