London-based lender Fintern has secured £32m in a seed equity and debt funding round to expand consumer loan access in the UK. Debt financing was provided by Varengold Bank, alongside equity contributions from angel investors including fintech founders and business leaders.

The fresh capital will support the company as it seeks to scale its lending operations and provide £1bn in consumer loans by 2025. Fintern bypasses traditional credit scoring by using open banking data and artificial intelligence to evaluate applicants.
