Estendio is a Scottish educational technology company that builds accessible software products to support students with disabilities. Its flagship application, Present Pal, functions as an interactive flashcard tool designed to alleviate public speaking anxiety.

Glasgow educational technology company Estendio has secured £450k in seed funding from Scottish Enterprise and private backers. The capital will support the firm as it moves into North American schools and universities, alongside domestic expansion. The raise follows a period of robust growth for the business, which has seen its revenue triple and headcount rise significantly during the pandemic.

Chief executive Chris Hughes founded the company after drawing on his own experiences as a dyslexic university student who struggled with presentation anxiety. The business intends to use the proceeds of the convertible loan note to scale its operations internationally and increase its local headcount. Backers include Scottish Enterprise alongside a consortium of private investors.

From the founder

"I had to give presentations 2 or 3 times a week as part of my degree. I was getting so frustrated spending hours preparing every week only to forget key information during my presentation."
