The round was co-led by Inven Capital, 2150, and AENU to accelerate fleet expansion and software development.

£11.0MSeries A

Ember operates a fully electric intercity bus network and proprietary management software.

Ember, an Edinburgh-based electric intercity bus operator, has secured £11m in a Series A financing round. The investment was co-led by Inven Capital, 2150, and AENU, with additional participation from existing backers Pale Blue Dot and Gareth Williams.

The capital will be directed towards expanding the company fleet of electric buses and further developing EmberOS, the proprietary software platform that manages network operations and scheduling. Founded in 2020, the company combines high-utilisation passenger transport with dedicated charging infrastructure to reduce emissions on long-distance routes.

From the founder

"Travelling by bus or coach doesn’t have to be rubbish. It should be possible to deliver an experience that beats a car – because someone else is doing the driving so you can have your time back – but that requires a relentless focus on the passenger experience. Things like live tracking that actually works, super-simple pricing, easy ticket changes and near-perfect reliability."
