Eat Just secures investment from AIV Capital to fund international expansion and unit economics.
The funding follows regulatory approval for its plant-based egg products in Europe and commercial milestones for its cultivated meat division.
Eat Just develops and markets plant-based alternatives to conventional egg products, using mung beans to replace reliance on traditional farming. The San Francisco enterprise has also established a subsidiary dedicated to cultivated meat production.
AIV Capital has completed an investment into alternative food business Eat Just. The company has raised more than $500m to date, with this latest capital set to improve unit economics and support international expansion.
Eat Just is preparing for a mid-2022 European launch for its JUST Egg product following recent regulatory safety panel approval. Additionally, its Good Meat subsidiary has secured manufacturing rights in Qatar and regulatory clearance in Singapore.
AIV Capital is the newly established institutional investment arm of Angel Investment Network, targeting scale-ups ranging from Series B to pre-IPO.
Investor perspective
"We are delighted to have partnered with CEO, Josh Tetrick the team at Eat Just Inc. With the demand for plant based products soaring they offer a viable alternative to conventionally-produced egg products and are offering impressive returns for all stakeholders. This is a prime example of the sort of business we will be working with at AIV Capital. One with a strong management team with a demonstrated edge in the space they operate in."
