Blackfinch Ventures and 1818 Venture Capital back the travel card fintech as cardholder numbers grow.

£2.4MSeries A

Currensea provides an open banking travel card that removes foreign exchange fees by linking directly to existing bank accounts.

Currensea has secured £2.4m in a Series A funding round led by Blackfinch Ventures and 1818 Venture Capital. The capital will be deployed to support team expansion and drive the company toward its goal of reaching 300,000 users by 2024, alongside scaling its enterprise and charity offerings. This raise builds on a recent crowdfunding campaign and follows significant growth in the firm customer base over the course of the year.

From the founder

"This latest investment – which follows a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign earlier this year – is further evidence that there is a strong demand for an alternative to the foreign exchange trap that we’ve all been forced to endure for too long."
