London healthtech startup Cryogenx has secured £800k in funding to scale its commercial activities and complete its initial formal production run. The round included £150k from the British Design Fund, alongside contributions from existing shareholders, angel investors, and an unnamed US fund.
The capital will support the company as it prepares for market entry and advances preclinical studies. These trials involve partnerships with Brunel University and a leading American academic specialising in exercise and environmental physiology.
Cryogenx focuses on addressing extreme heat risks through its flagship CGX1 device, which functions as an ice bath in a backpack. The portable system uses compressed coolant and a thermally conductive pad to deliver rapid core body cooling for conditions such as heatstroke in remote or field locations.
