Cortea develops artificial intelligence agents designed to review financial audits and identify compliance errors.

Cortea has secured €12m in a seed funding round led by Dawn Capital to expand its audit review technology. Additional backing came from Cherry Ventures, Mosaic Ventures, and several angel investors, including former KPMG global audit chief Larry Bradley. The Berlin and London based startup plans to deploy the capital to develop further audit agents, enhance platform integrations, and grow its presence in the UK, Germany, and the US.

The company emerged from university roots in 2024, founded by Valentin Neumann and Philipp Hövelmann. Its technology targets the final stages of external audits, running automated checks on financial statements and disclosures to assist firms facing mounting regulatory scrutiny.
