Clean Food Group uses fermentation technology to convert food waste into sustainable oils and fats for the cosmetics, food, and pet nutrition sectors.
Clean Food Group has secured £2.5m in a funding round led by Clean Growth Fund to scale up its sustainable oils and fats technology. The investment brings the company total funding to £13m as it works toward commercialisation by 2025.
The biotechnology firm uses fermentation to transform food waste into viable alternatives for traditional ingredients like high oleic palm oil, aiming to address deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions associated with conventional agriculture.
Alongside the funding, the company continues to advance its regulatory approval process and expand market applications for its yeast-derived fats across baked goods, confectionery, and cosmetics.
