Chromacity secures over £1m in follow-on funding from Eos Advisory, Kelvin Capital, Scottish Enterprise, and Innovate UK to launch healthcare lasers and agricultural monitoring tools.
The Scottish laser technology specialist has raised over £1m from existing investors and Innovate UK to fund healthcare product rollouts and emissions monitoring tools.
Chromacity develops and manufactures ultrafast infra-red lasers for applications spanning quantum research, microscopy, and spectroscopy. The Edinburgh based business is expanding its commercial reach into healthcare diagnostics and agricultural emissions monitoring.
Chromacity has secured over £1m in new funding from existing backers Eos Advisory, Kelvin Capital, and Scottish Enterprise, alongside support from Innovate UK. The capital will enable the Scottish laser technology firm to roll out its healthcare focused ultrafast laser and develop a monitoring system for agricultural emissions. Alongside the financing, the company announced the appointment of Julian Hayes as its new chief executive officer.
The business builds compact and affordable infra-red lasers deployed in quantum applications and biological imaging. Its new 920 product is engineered for medical diagnostics, allowing researchers to examine living cells with minimal sample damage. Meanwhile, the backing from Innovate UK will fund a real-time monitoring instrument designed to measure greenhouse gases such as methane, ethane, and ammonia in agricultural settings.
Incoming chief executive Julian Hayes brings previous leadership experience from Scottish technology enterprises including Gas Sensing Solutions and Power Photonic. He joins a board comprising industry specialists Robert Black, Richard Laming, and investor director Graham Miller.
