Charac provides a cloud-native software platform that integrates with the NHS to streamline operations and digitise independent pharmacies. Total funding has reached roughly £4m following its latest financing round.

Charac has secured £1.2m in debt and equity financing to help independent pharmacies adapt to the operational pressures of the government's Pharmacy First initiative. The funding was provided jointly by the National Pharmacy Association and pharmacy owners. This latest injection follows a previous £1m investment from Royal Mail and brings the company's total funding to £2.5m.

Independent pharmacies across England are facing acute operational hurdles, including rising costs and staff shortages, alongside increased demand for clinical services. Charac intends to use the capital to support the digital transition of community pharmacies, allowing them to manage repeat prescriptions, access patient records, and conduct patient consultations through its NHS-integrated application.

From the founder
