Cerbos provides open-source access control software and managed cloud services that help developers manage user permissions.
Cerbos has secured $7.5m in an extended seed round backed by a group of institutional and angel investors, including Omers Ventures. The London-based company intends to deploy the capital to expand its product offerings.
The funding follows the launch of Cerbos Cloud, a managed service designed to simplify policy management, testing, and real-time updates for developers. Founders Emre Baran and Charith Ellawala established the business to address the complexity of implementing access control logic in modern software architectures.
From the founder
"Decoupling authorization makes life easier for both developers as well as product managers and security teams who create the requirements. Once implemented, the developers can focus on the rest of their job without having to deal with every change in access control logic,"

Investor perspective
"Cerbos has created an elegant, low-code solution to a widespread problem the founding team experienced first-hand in previous roles, which is always a solid starting point when we are looking for investments with break-out potential. And as user authorization becomes increasingly important in the modern tech stack, the Cerbos team has a relentless focus on providing the most scalable solution. We feel privileged to play a role in this journey that’s only just getting started,"
