London-based startup developing software that routes artificial intelligence tasks to different hardware models and chips based on the specific requirements of each step.
Callosum has secured $100m in a seed funding round led by Atomico, marking one of the largest early-stage investments in Europe. The financing also drew participation from Plural, DCVC, and the UK Sovereign AI Fund, bringing the total capital raised by the firm since its inception to approximately $110m.
Founded by former Cambridge researchers Danyal Akarca and Jascha Achterberg, the company has developed a platform that splits artificial intelligence workloads into distinct steps and allocates them to the most suitable hardware rather than relying on uniform chips. The fresh capital will support the expansion of the platform and the establishment of international computing partnerships, including collaborations with Cerebras and Rebellions.
