Buump Active secures £347k from Sport England to support new mothers in fitness
The National Lottery funded injection will back the rollout of a social fitness platform for new mothers.
Buump Active operates a social connection platform designed to help new mothers maintain their fitness and build local communities. The application connects users for shared workouts and social activities.
Manchester-based fitness platform Buump Active has secured £347k in funding from Sport England via the National Lottery fund. The capital will support the rollout of the company application, which aims to help new mothers stay active and connect with peers.
The startup was founded by Rebecca Bishop after she experienced social isolation and fitness challenges following the birth of her daughters. The platform facilitates meetups, joint workouts, and provides access to home exercise classes.
The investment follows Sport England identification of early motherhood as a critical period when personal fitness levels often decline. Buump Active prepares for initial launches in Manchester and Bristol before a wider national rollout.
Investor perspective
"We know that when life changes, activity habits can change too. Starting a family comes with big challenges for even the most committed to sport and fitness. Some people find their way back into the routine, but many find it tough to get active again in a way that fits their new life. Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, Buump Active will support new mums to start or continue to enjoy the physical and mental benefits of getting active."
