Bimsense is a proptech enterprise specialising in building information modelling and digital asset representations. Its platform helps stakeholders manage building data to improve safety and compliance.

Construction technology consultancy Bimsense has secured £250k in seed funding from Mercia through the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund. The capital will be deployed to commercialise the company's Operance software platform and expand its headcount over the coming years.

Founded in Hull by Ian Yeo and Scott Pilgrim, Bimsense focuses on building information modelling to improve safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance across property developments. The latest injection follows early industry interest in the firm's digital audit trail technology, designed to streamline facilities management from design through to long-term operation.

From the founder

"We’re delighted and excited to secure this investment to deliver our long-term ambition of digitising and ‘humanising’ building information to help create safer, healthier places for people to live, work and spend their leisure time."

Investor perspective

"Although construction and property management is the fourth biggest contributor to GDP, it is one of the least digitised sectors. The Operance system could have a huge impact in terms of reducing costs and improving safety and quality of life for building users."
