Bactest raises £850k in an overfunding round to market microbial testing products and develop wastewater systems.

The company secured backing from the Low Carbon Innovation Fund and Angel CoFund to expand its distribution network and ready its Shepherd monitor for launch.

£850K

Bactest creates microbial testing and monitoring instruments for water and contamination control. Its devices include the portable Speedy Breedy tester and the Shepherd sludge management system.

Bactest has secured £850k following an extended overfunding round, surpassing its initial target of £450k. Backing came from existing shareholders, private angels, and institutional funds including the Low Carbon Innovation Fund and Angel CoFund.

The capital will be directed towards expanding the market reach of its flagship Speedy Breedy contamination tester and scaling up distributor networks. Simultaneously, the firm will fund the final development stages of Shepherd, an automated monitoring system designed for sewage treatment processes.

The Cambridge-based firm recently gained industry recognition after collecting the SME of the Year Award at the Telegraph Festival of Business.
