Avail Technologies secures £300k from Mercia to drive recruitment platform growth.
The haulage recruitment specialist has raised £300k from Mercia and chairman Keverne Watt to fund expansion.
Avail Technologies operates an HGV recruitment platform connecting hauliers with drivers for short term contracts. The service removes traditional agency intermediaries while assisting with tax compliance.
Avail Technologies has secured £300k in seed funding from Mercia through the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, alongside support from chairman Keverne Watt. The recruitment platform, which bypasses traditional agencies for short-term haulage contracts, will put the capital towards expanding its customer base and growing its team. The fresh injection follows previous backing from the fund in 2019 and coincides with the company relocating its headquarters to Stockton-on-Tees.
From the founder
"The pandemic has had a major impact on supply chains and the haulage industry. By improving efficiency and enabling them to recruit drivers remotely, our platform has helped firms to keep going in these uncertain times. With continued pressure on costs, it is all the more important for operators to minimise unnecessary expenses like recruitment fees to enable them to maintain profits and improve drivers’ wages."

Investor perspective
"Avail is revolutionising the way haulage firms recruit drivers for short-term contracts. The company has already proved the success of its model and won recognition from some of the industry leaders. As we emerge from lockdown and freight levels return to normal, this latest funding will help it to expand its customer base and grow its team."
