Dimension led the funding round, with participation from A.P. Moller Holding and several returning investors.
Automata develops modular hardware and software automation platforms designed to modernise life science laboratories. Its technology helps researchers increase experiment throughput while reducing costs and error rates.
Automata has secured £33.1m in a funding round led by Dimension, with participation from A.P. Moller Holding alongside returning backers Octopus Ventures, Hummingbird, Isomer Capital, Possible Ventures and Aldea Ventures. The capital will support the company as it expands its team and scales its commercial footprint internationally.
The raise follows a period of rapid expansion for the London-based business, which reported 150% revenue growth since its previous funding round in January 2022. Automata plans to use the fresh proceeds to accelerate its growth across key markets in the US, UK and EMEA.
From the founder

Investor perspective
"The modern lab is a data factory, requiring precise coordination across a suite of lab instruments juggling multiple protocol runs. As a result, the industry needs a lab automation system that is built with an emphasis on speed, reliability, reconfigurability, reproducibility, and scale. Automata’s modular software and hardware LINQ system delivers just that and we’re thrilled to partner with them to build a category-defining business in this space."
