Antiverse is a techbio company that uses artificial intelligence and in-house laboratories to design therapeutic antibodies for complex disease targets. Headquartered in Cardiff, the firm develops treatments for conditions involving challenging molecular structures.

Antiverse has secured £3.5m in a seed funding round led by i&i Biotech Fund and Kadmos Capital. The capital will support the company as it advances its internal pipeline towards clinical trials and expands its laboratory and machine learning teams.

Additional backing for the round came from existing investors including InnoSpark Ventures, UKI2S, Tensor Ventures and AngelHub. The fresh funds will also be directed towards enhancing the predictive accuracy of the firm's design platform and supporting ongoing pharmaceutical collaborations.

The latest investment brings the total equity financing raised by the Cardiff-based techbio company to £7.2m. Antiverse recently opened new facilities in Boston and Prague to accommodate its growing pipeline of projects.

From the founder

"A third of all FDA-approved drugs target GPCRs, yet, despite decades of research and billions of funding, only a few GPCR-targeting antibodies exist. Thanks to the support of our investors, we are one step closer to making GPCRs and other challenging targets druggable, bringing needed therapies to patients across the globe."
