About:Energy provides a proprietary software platform called The Voltt to streamline battery selection, design, and supply for industrial applications. The company centralises battery data to help firms accelerate product development and reduce costs through virtual prototyping.
Battery technology firm About:Energy has secured £1.5m in a seed funding round to commercialise its software platform, The Voltt. The financing comes from backers including HighSage Ventures, Vireo Ventures, and OakNorth Bank CEO Rishi Khosla.
The fresh capital will be directed towards scaling the company's battery laboratory in London, growing the headcount, and speeding up the adoption of its virtual prototyping tools. By centralising hard-to-obtain measurement and modelling data, The Voltt aims to help manufacturers lower design costs and shorten timelines for electrified applications.
The round also drew support from Plug and Play Ventures, Electric Revolution Ventures, Fabrice Bernhard, Leo Michel-Grosjean, Laura Webster, Mandeep Manku, and Nick Banner. The company intends to integrate ongoing research from academic institutions such as Imperial College London and the University of Birmingham.
