Fitness venture 1Rebel has secured £1.5m through an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube, surpassing its initial £1.2m goal after attracting backing from 304 investors in exchange for a 34% equity stake.
The capital will support the launch of the business network of contract-free boutique fitness clubs in London, with the first location scheduled to open in Shoreditch during the winter.
The company was established by James Balfour and Giles Dean, who previously led Fitness First and Jatomi Fitness.
