Zobi develops smart home security products designed to protect domestic networks from cybercrime. Its flagship device, Hedgehog, acts as a digital guardian for connected household devices.

Home intelligence brand Zobi has secured £150k in pre-seed equity funding from institutional investors Worth Capital after winning The Start Up Series competition. The capital will support the company as it prepares to launch its debut consumer product, a home network cybersecurity device called Hedgehog, in September.

Created to discover promising British entrepreneurs, The Start-Up Series has invested £4.3m into winners since 2016. Zobi received the funding instalment in April alongside strategic advice from Worth Capital co-founder Paul Soanes to help scale the business.

The investment arrives as demand for home network security rises due to increased remote working and a surge in coronavirus-related cyber scams. Zobi aims to protect at least two million homes and families from cyber-attacks by 2025.

From the founder

"We have so many connected devices in the home from nanny cams and speakers to smart fridges, digital doorbells and games consoles, that we need security for all of them. Our vision is to protect at least two million homes and families from cyber-attacks by 2025 so this investment will support our efforts to grow substantially over the next 12 months in order to do so."
