Zilico develops medical diagnostic technology for early cancer detection using its proprietary Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy platform. The firm originated from research at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Zilico has secured further investment from existing backer Deepbridge Capital to support its diagnostic technology expansion. The funding follows a separate £1m award from SBRI Healthcare earlier in the year intended for oral cancer device development. Alongside the financial update, the firm announced the appointment of Martin Frost as its new chairman following the departure of Andrew Newell.
