Instant messaging app Yapster has secured £2.6m in a Series A funding round to expand its client base and accelerate growth. The company provides a corporate alternative to WhatsApp for workers without company IT systems.
New backers in this round include Conservative peer Baroness Bottomley and former Pizza Express and Halfords finance chief Nick Carter. The platform is already utilised by thirty major firms including Wagamama and Caffè Nero.
Revenues are generated through an annual subscription model based on active user numbers, with fees starting at £2 per user each month. The fresh capital will support the firm as it targets ten additional corporate signups before the end of the year.
