Warwick Audio raises £2.2m from Mercia Technologies and SyndicateRoom to target the automotive market

The funding will support the development and commercialisation of the company's electrostatic audio technology for vehicles.

£2.2M

Warwick Audio has developed a patented electrostatic laminate speaker technology designed to replace conventional magnetic coil systems in vehicles and headphones.

Warwick Audio has secured £2.2m in a funding round supported by online investment platform SyndicateRoom and backed by private investment firm Mercia Technologies. The capital forms part of a broader financing push exceeding £3m for the business.

The funds will be deployed to advance core technology development, prototyping, new product lines, and marketing as the company targets the automotive audio sector with its electrostatic laminate speakers.

The business previously launched its technology via the Sonoma M1 headphone system across several international markets. The fresh capital aims to scale manufacturing and integrate the slim, lightweight speakers into automotive applications.

From the founder

"Currently the automotive industry uses mainly magnetic coil technology within its in-car speakers. While simple and cost effective, they tend to take up lots of space and weight, which doesn’t fit with the power-consumption and carbon-emissions-conscious world we live in today,"
