Vortex IoT has secured a six-figure investment from the Development Bank of Wales to fund its next phase of expansion. The Swansea-based hardware firm will direct the capital towards scaling its international presence and doubling its headcount from 15 to 30 staff members by the end of the year.
The company designs specialized sensors and networking equipment tailored for harsh industrial conditions where power is scarce and data security is paramount. Its client roster already features major enterprises such as BT, Network Rail, and Tata Steel.
Alongside commercial expansion, the funding will support collaborative research efforts with engineers and scientists at a new facility near Swansea University. The initiative aims to drive productivity gains and refine the firm's retro-fit product offerings for demanding sectors.
