Videregen is a Liverpool-based developer of regenerative medicine that creates bespoke organ replacements using biological scaffolds and patient stem cells.
Videregen has secured £3.1m in funding from a mix of equity, grants, and private investors to advance its organ replacement technology. The financing comprises £900k in equity from The North West Fund for Biomedical, managed by SPARK Impact, a £1.9m grant from Innovate UK, and £300k from London Business Angels and other private investors.
Led by chief executive officer Dr Steve Bloor, the Liverpool-based firm intends to put the capital towards manufacturing development and clinical research. Videregen produces biological scaffolds seeded with a patient's own stem cells to address organ shortages, initially targeting conditions affecting the trachea and bowel.
