Verdiva Bio is a biotechnology company based in London that develops advanced treatments for obesity and cardiometabolic disorders.

Verdiva Bio has raised $411m in a Series A financing round co-led by Forbion and General Atlantic. The oversubscribed round also drew participation from RA Capital Management, OrbiMed, Logos Capital, Lilly Asia Ventures, and LYFE Capital.

The capital will be used to advance clinical development across the company pipeline and expand its cardiometabolic portfolio. Founded by former members of Aiolos Bio, the London-based biotechnology firm focuses on creating differentiated medicines such as oral GLP-1 peptides and amylin agonists.

The funding follows Verdiva Bio acquiring global development and commercialisation rights for its portfolio from Sciwind Biosciences. The company aims to address unmet needs in the weight management sector with treatments designed for less frequent dosing and improved tolerability.

From the founder

"People living with obesity and its complications deserve better options at each stage of their treatment journey. These include oral therapies with less frequent dosing regimens, which have the potential for improved efficacy and tolerability, and innovative combination therapies for healthier weight loss and—equally importantly—maintenance of metabolically healthy weight. We created Verdiva Bio to accelerate the development of differentiated medicines that address these significant unmet medical needs."
