Unyoked secures €18m from SURPLUS Equity Partners and Realside Financial Group to expand European cabin network

Unyoked builds and operates off-grid nature cabins designed to help people disconnect and spend time outdoors.
Unyoked has secured €18m in funding led jointly by SURPLUS Equity Partners and Realside Financial Group. The capital will enable the nature-focused hospitality business to expand its network of sustainable cabins across the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Germany, BeneLux, Austria, and Switzerland, alongside its existing markets in Australia and New Zealand.
Founded in 2016 by brothers Chris and Cam Grant, the company operates over 100 solar-powered hideaways located within two hours of major cities. The off-grid structures feature low environmental impact amenities, including rainwater tanks and composting toilets, supported by proprietary booking and operations software.
The latest investment follows the company's entry into the British market in 2022. Backers note that growing demand for regional and sustainable travel among overworked demographics is driving strong occupancy and customer loyalty.
