Tyk provides an open-source API management platform that helps enterprises monitor, secure, and manage their software interfaces. The company operates as a remote-first organisation with a global workforce.

Tyk has secured £4m in Series A funding led by MMC Ventures to support its international expansion and product development. The capital will primarily fuel the company's growth in the United States, alongside the opening of a new office in Atlanta. Founded by Martin Buhr, the business provides API management tools used by major brands such as Starbucks, Domino's and Sephora France.

MMC Ventures led the round as part of its ongoing investment in enterprise software and developer tools. Tyk plans to use the fresh capital to bolster its engineering teams across EMEA and APAC while continuing to maintain its open source gateway model. The company currently employs over 50 staff globally and serves more than 175 paying enterprise customers alongside a large open source community.

From the founder

"We want to help engineers build great products that open up data and connect systems, with APIs at their core. Because we genuinely care about our community, there’s a huge desire to do things differently, whether it’s our practices to support work-life balance or our Enterprise-grade level open source API gateway. For us it’s all about working to create the best quality API Management tools that we can."
