TVPlayer raises £5m from A+E Networks and Beringea to expand distribution
The livestreaming TV platform secured the funding led by A+E Networks to develop its content offering and scale distribution.
TVPlayer operates a livestreaming television platform in the UK that delivers free-to-air and premium pay channels across multiple devices.
TVPlayer has secured £5m in a funding round led by A+E Networks, with participation from existing backer Beringea. The company provides a livestreaming television service in the UK, combining major free-to-air networks with a subscription-based tier of premium channels.
The fresh capital will be directed towards enhancing the platform content library and widening service distribution across the UK market. Management also plans to roll out a substantial marketing push ahead of the Christmas period.
The financing coincides with TVPlayer completing its demerger from parent company Simplestream to operate independently. Founder Adam Smith remains with the business alongside co-founders Lewis Arthur and Dan Finch.
From the founder
