Tourhub raises £1m from Waterspring Ventures and the Development Bank of Wales to scale its travel platform.
Waterspring Ventures and the Development Bank of Wales backed the travel platform in a £1m co-investment.
Tourhub operates an experiential travel aggregation platform that allows users to compare and book adventure holidays from global operators. The company integrates content creators to build a community-driven booking experience.
Cardiff-based travel aggregation platform Tourhub has secured £1m in funding from Waterspring Ventures and the Development Bank of Wales. Waterspring Ventures contributed £450k to the round, while the Development Bank of Wales provided £300k through its Technology Seed Ventures Fund alongside £250k from its Angel Co-Fund.
Established shortly before the onset of the pandemic, Tourhub used the downtime to refine its technology platform and onboard global tour operators. The fresh capital will support the company as it expands its network of operators and pursues international growth, including a planned launch in Australia.
Local legal firm Hugh James advised on the transaction, which adds to a backing group that features experienced travel industry figures and angel investors.
From the founder
"We set up tourhub because we could see the growth of experiential travel and cultural holidays, but there was a need to bring it all in one place for travellers. We offer everything else but the standard, traditional beach package holidays. With close to over 800 worldwide suppliers, we provide you with whatever you dream of – from seeing snow monkeys in the Japanese Alps, hiking around 18 national parks in America, to cycling tours across Vietnam – we have something for every type of adventure seeker, no matter what your age."

Investor perspective
"We’re delighted to be investing in tourhub. The team astutely spent the pandemic laying the foundations on the tech and operational side of the business, whilst developing existing and new relationships with big and small tour operators around the world. Numerous members of the team have also led, built and exited businesses in the travel industry previously. This collective experience was a strong attraction for Waterspring Ventures and we are excited to work together going forward."
