Thymia develops video game-based software designed to assess and track depression objectively using neuropsychology, linguistics, and machine learning.

Thymia has raised £780k in pre-seed funding to expand its platform for monitoring and assessing depression. The round was co-led by Kodori AG and Calm/Storm, with participation from Form Ventures and Entrepreneur First. The company will direct the new capital toward enriching its product dataset and growing its commercial and technical teams.

Traditional mental health diagnostics rely on subjective questionnaires dating back to the 1960s. Thymia replaces these outdated methods by asking patients to play specially designed video games that analyse voice patterns, micro-expressions, and behavioural metrics to detect and measure depression severity.

From the founder

"Thymia was born when a close friend of mine tried to take her own life. Her friends and doctors missed the signs that she was so seriously unwell, not least because the process of accessing the right treatment was based on out-dated methodologies not fit for the complexities and nuances of an illness like depression."

Investor perspective

"We’re very excited about Thymia. It’s going to bring the same level of objectivity to mental health that we expect in the realm of physical health."
