Tessian secures £46m Series C funding led by March Capital to expand its human layer security platform.
March Capital led the Series C round, which values the enterprise security firm at $500m and brings total funding to over $120m.
Tessian develops human layer security software that predicts and stops advanced threats caused by human error across enterprise communication channels. Founded in 2013, the firm operates offices in San Francisco, Boston and London.
Tessian has secured £46m in a Series C funding round led by March Capital to expand its platform and scale its workforce. Existing backers Accel, Balderton Capital, Latitude and Sequoia Capital participated alongside new investor Schroder Adveq. The capital will be deployed to develop broader security capabilities beyond email and grow the company commercial teams in North America.
The investment brings the total capital raised by the enterprise security firm to over $120m and values the business at $500m. Tessian applies behavioural intelligence models to employee communications to automatically detect and stop security threats without disrupting workplace productivity.
From the founder
"In the same way we have firewalls to secure networks, and endpoint detection and response platforms to secure devices, enterprises now need advanced security technology to secure their people. People make 35,000 decisions every day; it just takes one wrong decision or one instance of human error for an employee to cause a catastrophic security breach. We’re tackling the biggest threat to enterprise security, and are thrilled to partner with March Capital on our Series C and have them join our mission to secure the human layer."

Investor perspective
"Human activity – whether inadvertent or malicious – is the leading cause of data breaches. In Tessian, we found a best-in-class solution that automatically stops threats in real-time, without disrupting the normal flow of business. It is rare to hear such overwhelmingly positive feedback from CISOs and business users alike. We came to the same conclusion; Tessian is rapidly emerging as the leader in human layer security for the enterprise."
