The investment was led by Sixth Street Growth to support international expansion and product development.
SumUp provides financial services and payment products to millions of small merchants worldwide. The company operates across dozens of markets with a suite of hardware and software tools.
SumUp has secured £246m in a funding round led by Sixth Street Growth, with additional participation from Bain Capital Tech Opportunities, Fin Capital, and Liquidity Group. The capital will be deployed to broaden the company's international reach and develop further tools for small businesses.
The investment arrives on the heels of sustained profitability and top line expansion, with the business maintaining positive EBITDA since the final quarter of 2022. SumUp recently established operations in Australia, marking its thirty sixth geographical market, alongside securing strategic partnerships with major brands.
From the founder
"Our mission is to create a world where everyone can build a thriving business. The consistent growth SumUp has shown over the past eleven years is a direct result of the success of the merchants we serve, and it would not be possible without the unwavering trust and support of the investor community. We are excited to have Sixth Street join that community. This funding gives us additional firepower to pursue growth opportunities and accelerate products that empower small businesses."
