Student Rents raises £470k on Crowdcube to expand student accommodation platform
The pre-seed round was secured from 213 investors on Crowdcube to fund marketing and international expansion.
Student Rents is a proptech enterprise helping students find appropriate accommodation while studying. The company operates an upcoming mobile application designed to streamline the search for university housing.
Student Rents has secured £470k in pre-seed funding through a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube, backed by 213 individual investors. The capital will be deployed to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts, develop the company's application, and support international expansion into markets including Canada, America, and Australia.
Founded by nineteen-year-old Jamie Stewart, the enterprise aims to address ongoing student accommodation shortages by modernising how undergraduates secure housing. Following its domestic establishment, the firm intends to scale its operations overseas where similar student housing pressures persist.
From the founder
"Last month, we launched on CrowdCube and we managed to raise over £470,000 between 213 investors. Crowdfunding is essentially a platform where anybody can put money in and we have managed to secure just short of half a million."
