London fintech Statement has secured £1.5m in pre-seed funding from Northzone to launch its card payment comparison platform for small businesses in the UK. The capital arrives ahead of a regulatory change from the Payment Systems Regulator coming into effect on 6 July.
The platform allows merchants to upload recent statements and receive tailored recommendations for card processors, cutting the switching process from days down to minutes. The company was founded at Entrepreneur First by former Worldpay and Citymapper personnel.
Northzone led the investment round, supporting the firm as it addresses hidden fees and opacity in the merchant acquiring sector.
From the founder
"We all use our cards without a second thought, but accepting card payments has been frustrating for small business owners for far too long."
