London-based spacetech startup Space DOTS has secured $1.5m in a pre-seed funding round to accelerate the commercialisation of its smartphone-sized laboratory for space. The investment was backed by a syndicate including Boost VC, Sie Ventures, 7Percent Ventures, Blue Wire Capital, and angels Elaine Lau and Alex Ionescu.
The company specialises in miniaturised in-orbit active testing for advanced materials, aiming to reduce the time and expense required to qualify components for space deployment. Having previously been bootstrapped, the firm will use the capital to drive market adoption of its technology and support its broader mission to foster a sustainable in-space economy.
