Silicon Microgravity secures £2.8m from investors including Oxford Innovation Finance to commercialise sensor technology.
The funding was backed by the UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund, Oxford Innovation EIS Growth Fund, Oxford Innovation Finance's Angel Network, and the Defence and Security Accelerator.
Silicon Microgravity develops inertial and gravity sensors using proprietary resonant micro-electrical mechanical systems technology. The Cambridge spin-out targets motion sensing and subsurface imaging markets.
Silicon Microgravity has secured a £2.8m funding round, closing its first stage with £1.8m in new capital. The investment was backed by the UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund, the Oxford Innovation EIS Growth Fund, Oxford Innovation Finance's Angel Network, and the Defence and Security Accelerator.
The proceeds will be directed towards the commercialisation of the company's unique micro-electrical mechanical systems technology, which includes high-performance accelerometers, gyroscopes, and gravity sensors. Spun out from the University of Cambridge, the firm aims to address high-end inertial sensing markets and subsurface imaging applications.

Our Inertial sensors are already gaining strong industry interest globally with a major aerospace and defence contractor having already placed contracts. Our revolutionary gravity sensor will be commercialised later this year with the industry interest shown by our acceptance on to Europe’s largest infrastructure accelerator program and the award of funding from the Department for Business and Trade railway construction innovation competition.
