ScubaTx is a healthcare start up that has developed organ transportation technology designed to extend tissue viability. The firm originated as a spinout from Newcastle University.

ScubaTx has secured £1.5m in funding to refine its medical device and pursue international regulatory approval. The round was backed by Praetura Ventures through the GMC Life Sciences Fund alongside Innovate UK. The capital will support the company as it prepares for upcoming pre-clinical trials and expands its footprint with a new office in Greater Manchester.

The medical technology company focuses on improving organ transportation to address shortages in transplant procedures. Its persufflation system cools and oxygenates donated organs to extend their viability, with initial applications targeted at pancreatic procedures before broader international deployment.
