Safer Date has secured £225k in funding to develop its secure online dating application. The round was supported by the Innovation SuperNetwork through its ERDF-funded Innovation Finance programme, following pitch events hosted by the Newcastle Angel Hub and NorthInvest. Additional backing came from the Women Angels of the North syndicate, marking its debut investment.
The capital was utilised to build the platform, which performs comprehensive identity, global criminal background, and insolvency checks on every member prior to admission. The app officially launched on app stores on 1st December.

Previously, I naively thought that they had to vet their users – I was wrong. Most dating apps are full of fake profiles and criminals, including sex offenders."
