RootWave secures £5.5m Series A funding from V-Bio Ventures and Rabo Food & Agri Innovation Fund to expand weed-killing technology
V-Bio Ventures and Rabo Food & Agri Innovation Fund led the Series A round to support commercial growth and technology integration.
RootWave develops electrical weed-killing solutions designed to offer a sustainable alternative to chemical herbicides. The company sells professional hand-weeders and works to integrate its technology into automated agricultural machinery.
RootWave has secured £5.5m in a Series A funding round led by V-Bio Ventures and Rabo Food & Agri Innovation Fund. The syndicate also includes participation from Pymwymic and existing backers such as Yield Lab Ireland. The capital will be directed towards expanding sales of the company's professional hand-weeder, integrating its electrical technology into automated agricultural weeders, and advancing research into novel applications.
The financing arrives as the agricultural sector faces mounting regulatory and resistance pressures concerning traditional chemical herbicides. RootWave's approach uses electricity to destroy weeds from the roots upward, offering an organic option for growers, municipalities, and land managers across Europe.
