Relative Insight provides a language understanding platform that uses comparative linguistics to help businesses analyse unstructured data. Headquartered in Lancaster, the firm originated from research conducted with Lancaster University.

Relative Insight has secured £4m in Series A funding led by Maven Capital Partners. The capital will enable the language understanding platform to open its first North American office in New York City and continue the development of its technology.

The company emerged from a decade of research at Lancaster University and applies comparative linguistics to unstructured data such as customer feedback and social media. It already works with major advertising agencies in the US market.

Maven backed the transaction using its private client funds alongside the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund. The investment supports the firm as it pursues broader international expansion.
