Recraft raises £9.4m in Series A funding led by Khosla Ventures and Nat Friedman to build a new foundation model

The Series A round was led by Khosla Ventures and Nat Friedman to support the development of proprietary foundation models.
Recraft builds an artificial intelligence native design platform that provides image generation with brand consistency for creative teams. The company supports designers, marketers, and product teams at organisations like Amazon and Uber.
Recraft has secured £9.4m in Series A funding to advance its machine learning capabilities and develop a proprietary foundation model. The investment round was led by Khosla Ventures and Nat Friedman, with participation from RTP Global, Abstract, Basis Set Ventures, and Elad Gil alongside other angel backers.
The capital will support the creation of style-consistent design elements and industry-first features, including automated icon sets and layout generation. Since its launch, the London-based company has attracted more than 300,000 users with tools tailored specifically to professional workflows rather than consumer use.
Founded by Anna Veronika Dorogush, the firm employs a specialist machine learning team focused on building in-house architecture instead of relying on open-source platforms. The new funding positions the company to expand its professional design offerings for digital marketing and advertising.
From the founder
"I truly believe that AI has the ability to reshape design and influence the way that we look at the world. Recraft was created to meet the requirements of professional design, generating consistent style images and high-quality vector illustrations suitable for everything from advertising and digital marketing assets to iconography. And the development of our Foundation Model will enable us to improve the quality and consistency of the AI-generated graphic design."

Investor perspective
"We are seeing rapid and significant transformation of the design space driven by generative AI. But to date, many of the generative AI design solutions have been targeting consumers, rather than professionals that require high degrees of control. Recraft delivers on professional workflows such as vector images, style controls and end-to-end content production, all powered by in-house built foundation models. Anna Veronika and her team have extensive experience in AI and machine learning and we are excited to lead the company Series A."
