London-based tax startup building an AI-driven self-assessment platform with mandatory professional review.
Record OS has secured $2m in pre-seed funding led by Episode 1, alongside backing from senior leaders at Wise, Revolut, Deliveroo, and Alphabet. The capital will be deployed to develop its self-assessment and digital tax platform, which pairs automated filing with mandatory review by qualified tax professionals. The round comes as the UK implements Making Tax Digital, a regulatory shift lowering compliance thresholds for self-employed workers and landlords.
Founded by former Wise operators Dhruv Chadha and José Luis De La Peña, the six-person startup aims to remove the friction of annual tax returns. The system is designed to handle income sorting and expense tracking while providing human sign-off for £125 per filing, positioning it between automated software and traditional accounting firms.
From the founder
"When I found an error in my own tax return while testing the platform, I was shocked – I’d paid for professional help, I work in finance, and I was still left wondering whether everything had actually been done correctly. That simply shouldn’t still be the case in 2026,"
Dhruv Chadha
Co-founder at Record OS
Investor perspective
"The UK tax system is undergoing one of its biggest shifts in decades. Dhruv and José combine deep operational experience with a genuine obsession for solving customer pain points. We’re excited to back them as they build what we believe could become the default platform for self-assessment and digital tax filing,"
