Fitness gaming developer Quell has secured £8.3m in a Series A funding round led by Tencent. The capital injection includes participation from existing and new backers including Khosla Ventures, Heartcore Capital, Social Impact Capital and Naval Ravikant. The company will use the proceeds to scale up its launch game and expand its video game library alongside large-scale production of its Impact fitness gaming system.

The London-based business has experienced strong pre-orders for its proprietary motion and biometric tracking technology. The platform features athlete-grade resistance bands and delivers workouts comparable to an intense spin class. Quell previously raised a $5.6m seed round in late 2020.
