Quantum Motion develops scalable and energy-efficient quantum computers using industry-standard silicon transistors. The firm leverages existing semiconductor manufacturing lines to build systems that fit inside standard data-centre racks.
London-based Quantum Motion has secured £117.5m in a Series C financing round co-led by DCVC and Kembara. The capital injection also drew participation from new backers British Business Bank and Firgun, alongside returning investors including Oxford Science Enterprises, Inkef, Bosch Ventures, Porsche Automobil Holding SE, and Parkwalk Advisors.
The funds will support the commercialisation of the company's silicon transistor architecture, which aims to deliver utility-scale quantum computers. By relying on standard semiconductor manufacturing processes, the firm seeks to drastically reduce the cost, physical space, and energy consumption typically required by alternative quantum computing methods.
This funding arrives as the computing sector confronts mounting power demands from artificial intelligence infrastructure. Quantum Motion plans to deploy systems that integrate into existing data-centre racks without requiring bespoke industrial facilities.
