The financing round and grant package was co-led by Lockheed Martin Ventures, Chrysalix, and Maven SWIF.
Based in Bristol, Q5D manufactures five-axis robotic platforms that automate the installation of electrical wiring directly into products. The technology aims to eliminate manual wiring harnesses and streamline manufacturing across the automotive, aerospace, and consumer electronics sectors.
Q5D has secured £10m in a Series A financing round and grant funding to scale its robotic manufacturing technology. The capital injection was co-led by Lockheed Martin Ventures, Chrysalix, and Maven SWIF, with further participation from SOSV, UKI2S, UntroD, and CPI Enterprises, alongside a grant from Innovate UK.
The Bristol-based firm specialises in five-axis manufacturing robots that automate the integration of electrical wiring into products. The company plans to direct the new capital towards commercial pilots, expanding headcount, and scaling manufacturing capacity as it targets broader industrial deployment.
From the founder
"As vehicles become increasingly sophisticated in their electrical and electronics functionality, wiring complexity has reached the limits of what’s possible with conventional harnesses. In addition, the disruption of complex supply chains for vehicle wiring has cost carmakers billions of dollars in lost profits over recent years. Our technology will enable them to take back control of product electrification and it’s encouraging to see so many experienced investors recognising the tremendous positive impact it will have on that industry and others. With no direct competitors and significant technical barriers to entry our potential market is vast."

Investor perspective
"Our investment in Q5D and its automated electrification technology highlights our dedication to fostering a robust and resilient defense industrial base. Through investments like this one, Lockheed Martin Ventures aims to accelerate the development of next-generation technologies that will enable our customers to stay ahead of emerging threats and maintain a strategic advantage in an increasingly complex security landscape."
