Proportunity secures £108.5m Series A and debt investment led by VentureFriends
The financing round was led by VentureFriends and Kibo Ventures to help expand the team and increase maximum loan sizes.
Proportunity is a financial technology neo-lender that offers equity loans to help home buyers secure properties with a small deposit. The company uses machine learning technology to identify fair-valued homes in high-growth areas and bridge affordability gaps.
London-based fintech neo-lender Proportunity has raised £108.5m in a mixed debt and equity Series A funding round. The investment was led by VentureFriends and Kibo Ventures, with participation from existing backers Anthemis and Entrepreneur First, alongside new investor Amro Partners.
The company will use the proceeds to expand its team and increase its maximum loan size to £150k per home. Proportunity aims to help first-time buyers overcome steep deposit requirements and rising property prices by providing equity loans that sit on top of mainstream mortgages, effectively boosting borrowing power.
Investor perspective
"We’ve been investing in proptech startups that improve the real estate journey since 2016. In Proportunity we saw a product that can positively impact the lives of thousands of FHBs. Proportunity founders, Vadim and Stefan, have experienced the pain of trying to get on the housing ladder themselves and we were impressed with their resilience, drive and progress so far. Proportunity directly addresses the pain of FHBs, it makes housing more affordable and more attainable while also sharing the house price risk, instead of putting the risk solely on the FHB and/or their family."
