PrimaryBid secures £140m Series C funding led by SoftBank to fuel international expansion

The London fintech platform raised the Series C round from SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and existing investors to scale its operations globally.

£140MSeries C

PrimaryBid operates a fintech platform that connects individual investors with public market share offerings. The company enables corporate issuers to include retail investors in initial public offerings and subsequent capital markets transactions.

PrimaryBid has secured £140m in a Series C funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2, with participation from existing backers. The capital will support the company as it expands its footprint across continental Europe and enters the United States market, alongside continued product development and team growth.

The raise follows a period of rapid expansion for the London-based business, which facilitated over 150 follow-on and IPO transactions in the UK over an 18-month period. The platform was utilised in high profile market entries including Deliveroo and PensionBee, as well as Soho House in the US.

SoftBank joins an existing investor base that includes institutional groups and previous backers from the company's Series B raise. PrimaryBid also recently secured regulatory approval in the European Union and appointed Sir Donald Brydon as its first chair.

Investor perspective

"PrimaryBid is powering inclusivity in the capital markets by making it simple and easy for anyone to access stock issuances previously reserved for institutional or professional investors. We believe the team has created a platform that combines technology, data and an ‘ecosystem friendly’ approach to the challenge of widening participation, including developing a unique Community IPO platform for corporate issuers. We’re excited to partner with them and believe we can add significant value to the business through our global network and expertise"
